Appropriate sedation/anesthesia for GI endoscopy could include all of the following EXCEPT:

a) Natural airway with propofol infusion

b) Endotracheal intubation with sevoflurane

c) Laryngeal mask with sevoflurane

d) Natural airway with fentanyl and midazolam boluses

e) Natural airway with IV Scopolamine

Answer e. There are numerous effective methods to ensure adequate amnesia and sedation for endoscopy; this list is not conclusive. However, in the absence of life-threatening GI bleeding with hemodynamic instability, scopolamine (as a single-agent amnestic) is probably not appropriate.
