The following statements for the first stage (Norwood) repair of HLHS are correct EXCEPT:
a) A goal for the surgical repair is limiting pulmonary blood flow
b) Aorto-pulmonary runoff occurs with the RV to PA conduit
c) Survival rates following the repair are above 70%
d) Aortic arch reconstruction is performed
e) Postoperative SpO2 is approximately 75-80%

Aorto-pulmonary runoff occurs in the Norwood procedure with MBTS, and is further exacerbated by factors that reduce PVR. The runoff results in a fall in coronary perfusion pressure and places the ventricle at risk of ischemia. Prevention of aortopulmonary runoff is a major benefit of RV to PA conduit creation. The other statements are all correct.
