Administration, especially rapid, will cause all of the above except E (will cause LEFTWARD shift of the oxyhemoglobin dissociation curve). Cerebral edema is usually caused by an acute DECREASE in intracellular pH (caused by an acute increase in CSF CO2 which rapidly diffuses across the blood brain barrier (BBB) when compared to H+ and HCO3).
