Recall that NPO guidelines published by the ASA [1] include:
- solid foods (6-8 hours)
- formula (6 hours)
- breast milk (4 hours)
- clears (2 hours).
Some centers have elected to modify these guidelines as there are recent data making these regulations controversial.
