Answer d. Both Waardenburg-Shah Syndrome and Hirschsprung disease are caused by impaired neural development. Lactose intolerance is due to late activation of the enzyme lactase. Polysplenia results from failure of proper lateralization during embryonic development and subsequent situs inversus.
