Cerebral oxygen saturation can be increased by increasing cerebral blood flow, decreasing CMRO2, increasing carbon dioxide (which leads to increased cerebral blood flow), hypothermia (which decreases CMRO2), or improved oxygen content of the arterial blood (increased oxygen saturation or hemoglobin concentration).
